LAHORE: Pakistan’s Test team will assemble in Dubai before departing for Johannesburg for their upcoming two-match red-ball series against South Africa.
The squad will depart from Karachi, Lahore and will gather in Dubai.
Several players, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, and Saim Ayub, are already in South Africa for their ongoing commitments in the white-ball formats and will shift their focus to the upcoming Test matches.
Naseem Shah, Kamran Ghulam, and Abdullah Shafique, who are part of both the ODI and Test squads, will also join the camp ahead of the matches.
In addition, Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, Khurram Shehzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Abbas, Aamir Jamal, Haseebullah and Noman Ali will also join the team.
Red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie is expected to arrive in South Africa tomorrow to oversee the team’s preparations for the aforementioned series.
Pakistan currently holds the seventh spot in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table, with 40 points from 10 matches, having won 4 of them.
In contrast, the Proteas sit at the top of the standings, just one win away from securing a potential WTC final spot. They have accumulated 76 points from 10 matches, with an impressive win percentage of 63.33%.
