BRISBANE: India’s squad reached here on Wednesday ahead of the third Test of the ongoing five-match series against Australia, scheduled to run from December 14 to 18 at the Gabba.

According to Indian media, the touring side, under the leadership of skipper Rohit Sharma, was seen walking out of the Brisbane airport on Wednesday afternoon.

The visitors aim to bounce back after suffering a humiliating 10-wicket defeat in the second Test.

As Australia travelled to Brisbane for the third Test, starting Saturday, the Indian team stayed in Adelaide to concentrate on refining their red-ball skills by engaging in robust training sessions.

Notably, out-of-form Indian captain Sharma, who missed the opening Test in Perth due to the birth of his second child, had joined the squad ahead of the second Test in Adelaide.

The right-handed batter relocated himself to bat at number six in a bid to continue with the opening pair of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, which played a pivotal role in India’s 295-run victory in the Perth Test.

The decision, however, backfired for the touring side as Sharma, who has only one half-century in his previous 12 Test innings, managed to score just three and six in the pink-ball Test.

As a result, Sharma engaged in intense batting drills in the nets, facing both pacers and spinners.

Similarly, star batter Virat Kohli, who ended a 16-month drought by scoring a century in the series opener, also worked hard in the nets, after a forgetful outing in the second fixture.

For the unversed, the ongoing five-match series between Australia and India is currently levelled at 1-1.
